Schools and Youth Groups
Bring a group of young people or children to us and we will inspire them to get creative with clay. We regularly work with groups from toddlers upwards either at our studio or via outreach at your school, group, or club. Homeschooled groups and families are very welcome for regular or occasional sessions.
With our experience of working with small groups from five children or more, up to all the primary children at your school location, we know how to adapt projects to be suitable and appropriate for the needs and concentration level of different key stages and abilities. We can accommodate up to 20 children in the studio, or we can bring our activities to you.
Get in touch to discuss your project ideas or ask us for suggestions to fit a curriculum topic, event, key stage development plan, or season of the year. PTA committees and parents are often keen to contribute or organise a visit to Tarka Pottery for a creative workshop.
We have delivered many projects over the years, and the ideas included Olympic medals, Remembrance Day poppies, Christmas tree decorations, totem poles, woodland logs, Mother’s and Father’s Day plant pots and making items to sell (to parents) at Christmas Fayres.

Nursery, Parent and Toddler Groups
We welcome groups of up to 12 children with teachers, parents or helpers to get involved in creating their own hand-modelled pottery projects or painting pottery.
We have delivered many projects over the years, and the ideas have included Olympic medals, Remembrance Day poppies, Christmas tree decorations, Mother’s and Father’s Day plant pots and making items to sell (to parents!) at Christmas Fayres.
We love helping parents create cute hand and footprint keepsakes on ceramics. Choose anything from mugs, plates, heart plaques, Christmas baubles, clocks – just a few ideas! Hand and footprints in paint on pottery make lovely gifts, with plenty of smiles and messy hands during the experience!
Perfect for a sociable morning at an ante-natal group, a catch up with friends at the studio, or a coffee morning at your club meeting place.
All our paints and glazes are completely non-toxic and washable.
Want to join in? We have the following options to choose from:
Book a session in the studio where we can help you to create prints. Come on your own or with a group and enjoy a relaxing couple of hours over a cuppa while you paint.
Invite us to your nursery, parent and toddler group. Have a look at our Mobile Studio page for more details.

Adults, Ladies Groups and WIs
Book a day or evening session at the Tarka Pottery studio or have a look at our Mobile Studio information if you’d like to invite us to bring a practical demonstration with clay to your club or event.
If your members want to get hands-on, we’d love to organise a clay or pottery painting activity in our studio with workshops ranging from making slab pots for vases or mugs to having a go on the wheel. Suitable for groups who have regular speakers or like to try out different crafts and activities.
We can also put together a pottery painting pack to deliver to you if you’d like to do the activity without our help.
Contact us via the enquiry form below with expected numbers, details of when and where you meet or let us know if you’d like to come to the studio.

Care Homes and Clients with Carers
Jax and the team have many years of practical experience of working with adults and children with learning difficulties, physical and mental disabilities. We have a patient and supportive approach to meeting everyone’s needs and can work with small groups at your venue or our studio. Takeout kits are available so that you can enable your clients to do the activity at a time and in an environment that suits you and them.
We welcome regular or occasional bookings for clients with carers to fit into your activity schedule. Our location is situated within the inspiring rural countryside and is a minibus and wheelchair friendly – just let us know in advance if you’re are using a wheelchair and we can configure the studio to accommodate you. We tailor techniques and projects to each client ability whilst encouraging participation in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment.
Talk to us about your specific needs and requirements, and let us know if you’d like to visit our studio or would prefer us to come to you via our Mobile Studio.
